LEGION Simulator Help

Increasing simulation speed

Simulations can be quite demanding on hardware resources; the more complex and detailed the visuals are, the slower the simulation is likely to run.

There are several things you can do to try and speed up the simulation processing time:

  • Turn off all layers and objects in the Object Directory.
  • Minimise visual elements using the options described in Setting Display Preferences.
  • Minimise LEGION Simulator while the simulation is running.
  • Collapse the Timeline.
  • Favour standard Filters over advanced Filters.
  • If advanced Filters must be used, simplify the logic as far as possible.
  • If the same Condition is used more than once, replace it with a Named Condition - it will be evaluated once instead of individually per object using that Condition.
  • Use Multipath Zones only over the areas where Entities decide their next target. Set the Multipath Zone Filter to capture only the required Entities.
  • Use Congestion Avoidance features only where necessary.
  • If possible and appropriate to your model, favour direct links over routing by final destination.
  • Close all other programs that might impinge on your hardware's performance.
  • Record LEGION Simulation Results files to a different hard drive than the Operating System. This minimises hard drive access conflicts.
